Welcome to our U.S. History class blog and my American History class. The purpose of this class blog is primarily to discuss what we are reading and talking about in class. I will occasionally assign specific blog topics you will be required to read and respond to, or you may be required to read and respond to each others’ blogs. Topics may include current events, and local and school issues in addition to questions about U.S. History. Your posts and comments on the class blog are a very important part of your assessment and will count as a major grade. You will also have your own student blog. I encourage you to write on your blog about other school and personal interests as well, to increase your comfort with writing and blogging. But, remember the Contract for Blogging you signed in class and the following rules when writing on your blog.
- Please, no last names, addresses, phone numbers, or identifying information.
- Never disrespect someone else in your blog, whether it’s a person, an organization, or just a general idea. You don’t want someone making a stab at what you are passionate about; don’t do it to someone else.
- Watch your language! This has to be at least remotely professional looking.
- Make sure things you write about are factual. Don’t be posting about things that aren’t true.
- Keep it education-oriented. That means that you probably shouldn’t discuss your plans for the weekend.
- I will be moderating and have final approval on all posts and comments, so if it doesn’t pass the above guidelines it probably won’t be published
Download and/or print a copy of “My History Class Blogger Rules” by clicking on the image to the left. You have to read and sign a copy of these rules before you will be allowed to blog or have your comments posted (no exceptions!)
If you can think of anything I left out and need to add please let me know by posting a comment below.
Happy Blogging!
